PORT Alfred archers were among those earning gold, silver and bronze at the inter-schools archery competition held at Port Alfred High School last weekend.

Fifteen schools participated, with several schools from East London joining under the umbrella of the Buffs Club, and other schools coming from Uitenhage. Port Alfred High School and El Shaddai Christian Academy are the local schools which compete.

On Friday evening, archers participated in a 3D challenge by spotlight on the school field, and on Saturday the bulls eye competition was held.

In the 3D challenge, Anrich van Vuuren of El Shaddai came second and Francois van der Merwe of PAHS came third in the senior boys section.

Also in the 3D challenge, Hannah Ford of El Shaddai took third place in the junior girls section, while her sister Sarah Ford of PAHS came first and Rachel Lax of PAHS third among senior girls.

In the bulls eye competition, Francois van der Merwe came first in the senior boys section and Sarah Ford third in the senior girls section.
