SA athlete named marathon winner after two others disqualified

Ethiopian athletes Genet Abdurkadi and Elisabeth Arsedo, who finished first and second in the women’s category at the ASA Half Marathon Championships at Pollok Beach on Saturday, have been disqualified for race number placement violations.

SA’s Cornelia Joubert, who originally finished third,  has been declared the winner with a time of one hour 12 minutes and 31 seconds.

Gauteng North’s Stephen Mokoka won the men’s section  in 1:01:21.
