Creative Cooks finalists head to taste-off

THE four finalists for Rosehill Superspar’s Creative Cooks campaign have been chosen by the judges.

After some deliberation, consensus was reached by the judges and the following four entrants were selected:

  • Bulelani Tatum Qubuda, who will be preparing chicken chow mein.
  • Graham Enslin, who entered a number of very interesting recipes but the judges decided on his baked macaroni and cheese with chicken.
  • Anitha Ramduth, whose favourite family dish is “mum’s mutton curry” – a month end/payday Saturday special when she was growing up!
  • Annalien Gouws almost missed the deadline for submitting her entry but her “Lamboud Pastei met aartapple deeg” caught the attention of the judges.

The competition will take the form of a taste-off at Rosehill Superspar on Wednesday July 26 at 12 noon. Entrants will be allowed to do their final preparation in store on the day.

The judges are all local residents: Bram Coetzee is the owner/chef of the Wharf Street Brew Pub, Thea Swart is the owner/chef of the Fish River Diner and Josh Meaker is the sous chef at the Royal St Andrews Hotel.

Customers will have the opportunity to taste the interesting dishes selected. The judges however will make the final decision as to who will walk away with a Spar gift voucher to the value of R10 000.
