Tuesday May 30

Crazy about Animal Care – 6pm – Royal Port Alfred Golf Club. A local charity event where all ticket proceeds will be donated to the SPCA.  Entrance fee R50. Three talks: A representative of the SPCA, followed by an educational talk by Dr Leon De Bruyn (Port Alfred Vet Clinic) and then an uplifting motivational talk by Tania Adams ( life coach, business coach and CEO of crAzy always wins).

Port Alfred High School proudly presents the Foundation Phase concert “The Cats of Stone Hill”, 6pm in the school hall. Tickets at the door – adults R20 and children R10.

PA Art Club – DVD at Settlers Hall at 9.30am: The colours of winter.

Saturday June 3

Christian Men’s Association breakfast – 7 for 7.30am – PA Celebration Centre (The Old Vic Hotel). Speaker Sandila Kapela of the Methodist Church will share his testimony and his vision for Christianity in this and the wider Ndlambe area. Suggested R40 donation to cover costs (students R20).

Sunday June 4

Oldenburgia Hiking Club Manley Flats Charity Hike. We will be hiking a circular route of about 13km on the Manley Flats farm, just off the road to Bathurst, about 15km from Grahamstown. Meet in the Pick n Pay car park, Pepper Grove Mall, in Grahamstown at 7.30 for 7.45am departure. Cost: The hike is advertised at R30 per person but since it’s a charity hike and the Sikhululekile community is very impoverished, all further monetary donations will be most welcome. Also bring about R15 for fuel, if you are not in your own vehicle. Bring good walking shoes/boots, suitable clothing for the prevailing weather conditions, sufficient water, food (snacks and lunch), hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, any medications/first aid items you may require. Probus Club of the Kowie – 9.30 for 10am – Port Alfred River and Ski-boat Club. Our guest speaker is Alan Robb who, apart from holding more gold medals than any other runner, is the only Comrades winner to have completed the run over 40 times.  He will be “Reminiscing about the Comrades Marathon”.

Yummy breakfast and treats, fresh produce, arts and crafts. There is no charge for traders of local arts and crafts and produce – an attempt to encourage and support local tourism and businesses.
